Handmade in Finland since 1968

In 1968 in the North of Savolax in a small village called Kaavi two Finnish women had a dream of starting their own company. One of them was Eevi-Kirsti Järvelä who was during that time the Managing Director of Kotiteollisuus Oma Tupa Ltd. The other partner was a good friend Anja Harju. When thinking of a good name for the company Anja and Kirsti decided to take the first two letters from their names An and Ki and make this the name of their company. The next day Anki was established. Since the start until today Anki has been designing and manufacturing custom handmade rugs in our own factory. Anki grew steadily and in 1972 Anki was the biggest employer of women in Kaavi employing 18 women. As time went by Anki grew even bigger employing at the most 70 women. The workforce was and is still today dominated by women. In 1989 Peggy Björnberg bought the company and concentrated the sales in our Anki Shop in the center of Helsinki. Her mission was to make our rugs with the highest quality. She spent the first five years developing our unique coloring station, which today is one of our proudest assets giving us the possibility to produce almost any desirable color. Once our rugs were developed to the best of quality Peggy has served local customers with the intention of giving our customers the highest possible service and satisfaction. Peggys dedication has made Anki an even more respectable brand. Today we serve our loyal customers on a daily basis through our Anki Shop.
